“The quality of life is more important than life itself”-Alexis Carrel

Dr. Taylor Rahe has dedicated her Midtown practice to promoting the highest quality of care for her patients. Dr. Rahe’s passion lies in helping others navigate the effects of stress and related symptoms on their overall health & wellbeing. Regardless of diagnosis or areas of concern, helping her clients achieve optimal function emotionally, physically & behaviorally is her life’s purpose.

As a dedicated occupational therapist, Dr. Taylor Rahe feels strongly that quality of life is just as important as absence of injury or illness. In her approach to care, quality of life is not a luxury, but a necessary and foundational aspect of healthcare.

“Quality of life comes down to our ability to participate in meaningful, every-day activities with satisfaction and confidence. In general, I do not think we spend enough time focusing on this in our healthcare system. The fact of it is, health and longevity is enhanced by a high quality of life.”

Whether it is helping you navigate aches and pains, manage your time better, learn to regulate your emotions, handle stressful situations healthier or something else, Dr. Rahe will work with you, fostering quality of life every step of the way.

If you have ever met an occupational therapist and asked them what they do, you might have noticed it is difficult to get a simple, straightforward answer. One reason for this is the holistic and individual lens we are trained to use. We use a variety of physical, behavioral and cognitive techniques and interventions to meet the needs of our clients. The story of who you are, the people you surround yourself with, the environments you participate in, and what is important to you largely influences what our treatment sessions look like.

In a hospital, we may be focused on relearning to dress and bathe yourself before you go home because your privacy is valuable to you. In a school, we may be working on your handwriting so you can continue to learn and develop with your peers. In my office, we may be working on stress management skills to increase your confidence and performance during work presentations.

As an occupational therapist, we do not expect you to conform to a specific protocol or intervention. Instead, we adapt interventions and protocols to meet the personalized needs of you.

Individualized Care.

Experiencing stress is something we all have in common, an unavoidable shared human experience. Stress is also recognized as a factor in 70-90% of all illnesses and disease. Therefore, learning how to healthily manage stress is vital to our overall health and wellbeing.

Biofeedback is an excellent intervention tool in helping individuals change their relationship with stress for the better. Through biofeedback and other techniques, Dr. Rahe directly addresses the impact stress is having on your health and teaches your body to respond to it differently. This careful consideration for the impact of stress, that is all too often ignored or overlooked, is another example of what sets Dr. Rahe’s practice a part from the rest.

As Lou Holtz said, “it is not the load the breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it”.

Address the stress.
